Happy birthday Bogota

The first time I spent a significant amount of time in Bogota was in 2012. I got off the plane and walked through the airport, which was still under construction.

I made my way out, after collecting my luggage, and walked onto the busy street. It was late at night and there were horns tooting, people rushing, cars swerving in and out of traffic, people selling gum and drinks. Everyone was in a hurry, it seemed.

It was dark and loud and, for some strange reason, I instantly felt at home. It took me by surprise how comfortable I felt. I let out a big sigh of relief and knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

Today is Bogota’s 477th Birthday and to celebrate I wanted to show a video of Bogota circa 1946 which I found online. This is actually a travel video – it seems people have been drawn to this Andean city for decades!

Happy birthday, Bogota!
